Concept Art and the Untold Narratives of Video Gaming w/ Oakland's REACH U

This summer, I will be teaching a free workshop on concept art, character design and storytelling for high school students through The Oakland REACH / REACH U.

The Concept Art and the Untold Narratives of Video Gaming workshop will introduce high school students to the world of character development in the gaming industry. Through an artistic and historical lens, students will learn how to utilize brainstorming, storyboard creation, and their imagination to create characters that represent the stories that matter most to them. Students will also learn about the professionals involved in developing video game characters and the wide range of career paths in the gaming industry. In addition, students will engage with fellow students and the instructor in discussions on how to carve out a career pathway for not only themselves but other emerging artists who follow them.

Students receive a stipend for participating! Space is limited!
